Driving Over the Speed Limit

I'm struggling to remember where on earth the last 16 months went between graduation and where I am now...

After an eventful year of volunteering, networking my arse off and leaning very heavily on my better half I am now producing for two filmmaking co-operatives - Overlook Films http://www.overlookfilm.com/ and Raindrop Pictures. On top of this I've been made production manager for a feature film for Panther Films http://www.pantherfilms.co.uk/ and have fingers crossed landed my first paid role as a production co-ordinator on a feature film in the North West. Needless to say I am running around like a headless chicken occasionally remembering to stop and breathe once in a while.

I'm thankfully in a steady part time job at the MOD which is ideal in terms of flexibility and reliability and also means that money is not too much of a worry whilst I continue down the road ahead.

Sadly, my theatrical hobbies have had to fall by the wayside. Earlier this year I became a member of the Kelvin Players Theatre Company http://www.kelvinplayers.co.uk/ and have since enjoyed working in several productions both on and off the stage. However, sadly it was eating into my filmmaking time too much and I've made an agreement with one of my directors that I will take a break for six months. Definitely a wise decision and one that is the most sensible at this point in time.

As a producer, it is very important to me to make new contacts and maintain relationships with people within the industry. So much of this business is about WHO you know and not WHAT you know. With this in mind, I am looking forward to attending both the Cornwall Film Festival and Encounters Short Film Festival later this month.
